A Nordic Take on a French Classic

The lights at Je t’aime are low, which is exactly the kind of lighting you would expect from a restaurant claiming to love you.

Formerly a beloved dive bar, the location near Copenhagen’s Central station is dim and cosy, with high ornate ceilings, wood panels in floral blue and deep burgundy and vintage-looking, comfortable furnishings throughout the large space.

There’s a large a la carte menu as well as a four course menu option. While French food is often heavy, filled with butter and cream (not complaining), Je t’aime has taken classic dishes and lightened them just slightly – less butter, more fresh vegetables and portions that don’t overwhelm – but you will definitely leave satisfied.

The complete four course menu is 400 DKK and includes two starters, a main and a dessert, while mains start at 150. They also have a lovely French wine menu that’ll force you to really take your time over the decision.
