Clothes are front and centre at any fashion week. Beauty looks, however, are just as interesting and have a huge impact on the perception of the collection. Sometimes they’re as simple as a bright lip and sleek hair, while others take a more artistic approach.
Here are three looks we loved from Copenhagen Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2016:
Lala Berlin
Definitely the most wearable look of the three; this is summer beauty in all its pared-down, minimalist glory. The slicked-back ponytails are made slightly edgier thanks to the blunt ends. Otherwise, it’s a nearly-bare eye and dewey skin that allow the lip color to do most of the talking. But oh, what a color! If anyone knows the name, please let me know in the comments (seriously, I want that lipstick in my life).
Maikel Tawadros
It’s mermaid hair if mermaids were highly-stylized hot messes. This look was very cool to see in person because it was so texture-rich. The face plays second-fiddle to the hair, with simply lined eyes, a nude lip and not much else. A few of the models wore lacy Hannibal Lector masks, which was all kinds of Victorian Gothic chic.
Asger Juel Larsen
Larsen’s rock ‘n roll vibe was offset by a delicate beauty aesthetic. Heavy contouring to produce sharp cheekbones (not that these models needed it. Good god) and a strong brow seem to bring out the fragility in their young faces. Crispin Glover-in-Willard-inspired hair and black toenails completed the look.
