Discover Upcoming Danish Interior Design Trends at Formland 2019

In partnership with

Formland is a Danish interior design fair that takes place twice a year in Herning. The autumn iteration takes place 15th – 18th August. The fair is an industry event that welcomes both local and international buyers. It is considered to be instrumental in deciding and forecasting upcoming interior design trends in Denmark and the Nordics.

The fair focuses on Danish and Nordic design, furniture interiors, trends (including color, pattern, and styling), and promoting sustainability. They host both large and small brands, and give lots of space to trendsetters in the industry to create engaging areas for buyers, designers, and press alike.

Here’s a selection of what you’ll see at Formland:

We Care Exhibition

This exhibition focuses specifically on brands that are sustainable. The key here is that the exhibition is not for end-consumers; it’s actually for brands to show them how to engage with sustainable production practices. Every industry needs more of this! “We Care” is located in Hall E.

Brands highlighted include Kay Bojesen (design pieces), Julie Damhus Studio (ceramics), and Humdakin (cleaning products and homewares).

Furniture Brands

Yes, there will be lots of interior design products, but let’s not forget that furniture brands will be on display as well. There’s an opportunity to see furniture from large Danish companies such as Normann Copenhagen and Broste, but the bulk will be smaller-scale Danish producers such as Aarhus-based Roon & Rahn and Træfolk. It’s always inspiring to see these maker with their artisanal, and often handcrafted, goods. These are some of the most innovative furniture designers working today; trend forecasting for sure!

Selected By

Trend forecasting is something that takes a lot of knowledge, skills, and experience. Formland has allowed the following design and interiors experts to create their own areas, bringing in things they love and trends they expect to see next season. This is a great way to see how trends might fit together.

Participants include influencer Allan Torp, trend expert Anette Eckmann, and influencer Louise Dorph.

Selected By is located in Hall E.

Café Composé

Created in collaboration with Danish design firm HØEG + MØLLER, Café Composé is a) a place to eat and b) a place to be inspired. The concept of the space is composite design with a foundation of pastel colors. It’s all about mixing prints, textures, and styles, for a look that’s both stimulating and somehow visually harmonious. You didn’t think a café at a design trend fair would be just a regular café, did you?

Café Composé is located in Hall H
