Six Open Events for Copenhagen Fashion Week AW21

This season’s Copenhagen Fashion Week, which takes place 2nd – 4th February, is entirely digital. Due to COVID-restrictions, the organization has opted for safety rather than trying to hold even a small number of in-person events. We applaud their proactive stance and are excited to see how the schedule translates as a fully digital fashion week.

From talks to runway shows and more, fashion week’s digital iteration offers accessibility for so many more than ever before. In terms of events, this season will be focused on live Q&A sessions with designers and others in the fashion industry, spearheaded by an array of international publications and journalists.

Here are the best open digital events taking place during Copenhagen Fashion Week AW21:

List Marker: Number 1Live Designer Q&A with Schnayderman’s and Cassell A. Ferere, Contributor, Forbes US

Swedish menswear brands Schnayderman’s is all about high-quality basics that still look sleek. Tune in to hear their conversation with American writer, photographer, and extremely stylish man, Cassell A. Ferere, from the business magazine Fobes. Ferere is known for his focus on inclusive and ethical fashion, so expect a focus on that during the talk.

Danish-American actor and activist Amelia Hoy will be having a short and sweet conversation with Finnish-American designer and queer artist Ervin Latimer. Latimer is the Managing Editor of Ruskeat Tytöt (Brown Girls), a platform that boosts media and culture representation and work of marginalized groups in Finland.

Fashion designer Mads Nørgard and journalist Anne Christine Persson have recently released their book on Danish fashion, Modeleksikon. They also host the podcast “Afklædt” (Undressed). Get ready for a fascinating talk with the founders of Rotate Birger Christensen, a brand started in 2018 by influencers Jeanette Madsen and Thora Valdimarsdottir in partnership with Danish fashion brand Birger Christensen. Though the brand is young, they’ve already cemented their popularity by focusing on fun, playful partywear.

One of the most interesting creatives working in Swedish fashion, Robin Douglas Westling is known for styling, consulting, and his work in the Swedish Fashion Council’s study “Racism, social sustainability and the lack of ethnic diversity within the Swedish fashion industry.” Get ready for what will surely be a fascinating and high-level discussion on anti-racist practices in the Scandinavian fashion industry.
