You Can Get Lots of Free Baby Products In Denmark!

Denmark is internationally renown for their social safety net: health care, unemployment benefits, and lots of ways to make parenting less financially stressful, including subsidised childcare. A number of private companies have picked up where the government leaves off, supplying a range of free goods for those about to have their first child (this includes those adopting).

These goods are called babypakke. Having used them ourselves, we can attest to the fact that these are useful; our first month of diapers and wipes, as well as pacifiers (dummies) and hygiene products were all taken care of by signing up for these services. That’s a huge savings, not to mention a load off your mind in the first few weeks (a blur) with your baby. You can receive your babypakke pre-birth or up to six months after you’ve had your child. We recommend that you don’t wait too long, because usually the diapers involved are newborn size. Remember to bring proof of participation when you go into the store to pick up your goods – either on your phone or a print-out.

Here’s how to get your babypakke!

List Marker: Number 1Fakta

Sign up & pick up your Fakta babypakke in any Fakta store. It includes a packet of diapers, a changing pad, a pacifier and samples of changing products like zinc salve.

List Marker: Number 2Lidl

The Lidl babypakke is great! It comes with large packet of diapers, foam cleaning sheets, a pacifier, wipes and a little toy.

List Marker: Number 3Pampers Klubben

You can pick this one up at any BabySam. It includes some development books for parents (in Danish), some hygiene products samples and an Angel Care diaper disposal system plus one insert. If you find it useful, that’s great, but I found it to be more trouble than it’s worth and the inserts are extremely expensive for what is essentially a long trash bag. A regular diaper pail is much easier to use and less expensive in the long term. If you’re not sure, give it a go – there’s nothing to lose since they give you the first insert for free!

List Marker: Number 4Baby Club Matas

When you sign up for Club Matas, you can indicate that you’re pregnant or have recently given birth. This allows you to pick up a babypakke in your local Matas. You’ll also get discounts on baby products with your membership.

List Marker: Number 5Rema 1000

This is a straightforward, useful one; comes with a large packet of diapers, wipes, a pacifier and a little toy.

Please note that items in each babypakke may differ slightly from what is listed here.
