Night(s) at the Museum: Copenhagen Art Week

Now in its second year, Copenhagen Art Week is one of those cultural festivals that perhaps doesn’t get as much press as it should. Between the end of summer music and food offerings, Art Week can get a bit lost in the shuffle.

But no more! We’re pretty damn excited about Copenhagen Art Week and, if you’re into that kind of thing, you should be too. From curator talks to special exhibitions and night gallery openings, the festival has something for art lovers of all kinds.

This year’s theme is “The Making,” with many events focusing on the process of art. It’s a wonderful way to display not only the finished product but also the ways in which artists of all kinds conceptualize and create their work. Presented by the online magazine Kunsten.nu, there’s no shortage of mediums and venues to enjoy.

Copenhagen Art Week has an extensive calendar that breaks down the week for you. We’re especially looking forward to Gallery Night (Indre By & Kodbyen) where many of the galleries in those areas stay open until late; what a beautiful way to spend an evening.

Here’s a handy map with a suggested route of the inner city galleries for the most ardent art fans out there:
