Scandi Stays: Overlook Lodge by Cervo

When a Scandiphile wants to venture down from the north, where is safe for their senses? Nestled in the Pennine Alps at the foot of the world-renown Matterhorn in southern Switzerland, Zermatt is a small mountain resort town perfect for skiing and snowboarding, and a host of other winter activities. The elevation of the town is 1600 feet. Zermatt is known as a charming and classic ski town, without the “go to be seen” vibe of a place like Gstaad but still full of comforts and stunning vistas.

One of Zermatt’s best hotels, Cervo Mountain Boutique Resort, has recently opened Overlook Lodge, a ski lodge that offers panoramic views of the Matterhorn and charming Zermatt. The Overlook Lodge is made up of large apartments or single hotel rooms, all kitted out with dreamy Hästans mattresses. The multi-room apartments are perfect for family or friend skiing trips, with private terraces and fully-functional kitchens.

While the interior of the nearby Cervo Mountain Boutique Resort has lovely old world elements, with antlers on the wall and heavy timber and stone, the Overlook Resort is fresh, modern and minimalist. There are large bathtubs to soak in, cosy fireplaces for plenty of apres-ski hygge, fabulous food (including fondue, of course!) available nearby and breakfast hand-delivered in a basket each morning.

This is simple, elegant luxury for those who want a true skiing or cosy winter trip. And who doesn’t want a basket full of breakfast on their door each morning while lounging in a bubble bath?! The dream!
