Traveling can be daunting, whether you’re going on a long trip or a quick weekend getaway. What to bring? What to leave at home? Did I overpack? Does my destination have toilet paper? These are the questions that keep us up at night. Happily, there are a few tried-and-true items that not only look great, they’ll help streamline the whole travel process, making them a double-whammy for the minimalist set, and everyone else.
Here are the goodies we take with us when we’re on the road:
Away Carry-On Suitcase Review
These hard-shell, four wheel suitcases are easy on the eye but that’s not the only reason we love them. The Carry-On will fit perfectly in any overhead compartment, holds a good deal more than you’d think – the compression compartments see to that – AND can charge up to two items, like a phone and a tablet, at once! Perfect for when you’re running through the airport but also need to make sure you’re capturing everything on Instagram Stories.
Most people would say this can hold a few days’ worth of clothes, but we’ve actually fit in a whole month of jeans, tees and underwear with no problem (when we say we’re minimalists, we mean it).
Nomess Copenhagen Travel Organizer & Toiletry Bags
Useful, beautiful and multi-functional, these grey organisational items make packing and finding your goods a bit easier.
One Piece Original Onesie
Taking streamlined to the extreme, One Piece has a range of great unisex onesies that make travel a little cosier. Their original cotton onesie comes in regular or light cotton and a host of colors. But, of course, we like it in black. NB: there are also some pretty fantastic non-minimalist versions.
It’s always a good idea to have a few pouches and bags for your random goods – a bag for laundry, a bag for delicates, a bag for your fancy shoes. These sets from Nomess Copenhagen are hearty and classic.
Nomess Copenhagen Travel Adapter
One of those things you always need but manage to forget every time. This sleek version also comes in orange and fits a number of plugs, so you’ll never lose power again!
Aesop Boston Travel Kit
Take a step up for your usual hotel-shampoo-you-saved-from-last-year and treat yourself to a toiletries travel kit so that you’re always ready to go. There’s nothing more beautiful than a bag of Aesop products and these ones don’t disappoint, from hair care to skin care. No more anxiety about whether you’ll have to throw out your 105ml face wash when going through security any more!
Slim volumes packed full of stories, recommendations and great photos, the LOST iN Guides are a great way to get to know a city. Download their free app for even more insider info, plus then you don’t have to carry a guide around with you.
A good pair of headphones
A good pair of headphones is necessary for any kind of travel, from bike to air. In-ear are good for day-to-day but we’re fans of over-ear for relaxing on the go. Urban Ears has some chic and inexpensive options. For noise-cancelling, we swear by the Bang and Olufsen Beoplay H6.
