We have no shortage of great design available in Copenhagen, but there are still precious few ways to discover independent designers and craftspeople.

Such Agency is working to change that with their pop-up store concept “Slow Store,” which focuses on design and fashion with an aspect of sustainability or handiwork that fits into the idea of “slow living.” Beginning on the 10th of October and running until the 21st of October, Slow Store will be at BLAA GALLERI on Blågårdsgade in Nørrebro, a beautiful and light-filled space in a buzzing part of town.

The two women behind Slow Store and Such Agency are Alicja and Ewelina. Both Polish and living in Copenhagen, Alicja’s background is in anthropology while Ewelina’s is in E-business. Alicja says “I’ve always been interested in the landscape of changing consumer demands and trend research. In studying those things in Copenhagen, I saw that Scandinavia is very into sustainability. We felt that we could bring something special to the market here.”

Rather than setting up the space as separate brand booths, the store is styled and curated so that the items benefit from being together. They have been carefully chosen so that there is no competition between the brands – each is in their own category or has a very particular style.

The eight featured designers are bath & body care by Mirins Copenhagen, Silleknotte handmade leather goods, Enkel clothes, Wearso clothes, EYESEEi jewelry, Nature shoes, Scandinaviaform interior goods and URU Design socks. Customers will also be able to read Less Magazine on an in-store iPad. There’s very little crossover, but the items have been selected to bring out the best in each other and in the space.

This principle not only guides Slow Store, but the way that Alicja and Ewelina run Such Agency, which is a creative agency that customizes their work to their clients’ needs, helping them not only to reach a broader audience but also to find the best way to present their brand.

“We’re interested in making access to physical space more democratic,” Ewelina tells me, “That’s why we’re moving forward with the pop-up concept. It’s a way to showcase clients but also to understand how consumers interact with those products.”

So this might be the first pop-up store from Such Agency, but don’t expect it to be the last. “We want the idea of ‘slow living’ to be at the core of all of our stores, though we might have other themes like Christmas or something similar. That’s why we’re starting on that note – to establish what we’re all about.” Alicja explains.

With a handful of promising brands, a belief in the strength of these products and well-researched information about what shoppers in Scandinavia are looking for, there are exciting things coming from Such Agency. If you’re looking to live a little more slowly, or just love Scandi-design, you won’t want to miss Slow Store.
