Six Films to See at MIX Copenhagen 2018

MIX Copenhagen, a LGTBQI+ film festival, takes places this year from 26th October – 4th November. The program is a blend of documentaries, shorts, and narrative films that delve into the lives and stories of those in the LGBTQI+ community, ranging from comedies to intense drama.

This year will showcase films from around the world, including the internationally heralded Kenyan film Rafiki, as well as a series called “Nordic Lights,” featuring short films by Scandinavian directors. Most films are shown at Cinemateket. It’s an engaging and diverse array of films that we know you’ll enjoy.

These are the films we recommend for MIX Copenhagen 2018:

List Marker: Number 1Rafiki

This celebrated film by Kenyan director Wanuri Kahlu has been banned in Kenya due to its subject matter, although the ban was lifted for one week so that the film could be submitted to the Academy Awards. It is the story of two women, children of politicians on opposite parties, who find friendship, acceptance, and then love together. The film has been hailed for its beautiful storytelling and wonderful leads.
